Building Sentences, Word Order 13
somewhat advanced: Combining Object and Complement
Read and listen to the examples below to memorize the patterns

The examples suggest that the complement comes before an object that has an indefinite or no article, but after a definite, clearly identified object
 subject   verb   complement   indefinite object
Hij drinkt snel een biertje click to hear 2 He is quickly drinking a beer, he quickly has a beer
Hij at rustig een worstje click to hear 2 He calmly ate a small sausage
Drink eerst even rustig een kopje thee click to hear 2 'First, relax and have a cup of tea'
Ik gaf haar snel een knipoogje click to hear I quickly [gave her a wink] winked at her.
Heb je genoeg geld? click to hear 2 Do you have enough money?
Je hebt genoeg geld click to hear 2 3 You have enough money
Je spreekt goed Nederlands click to hear 2 You speak Dutch well
Hij spreekt goed Nederlands click to hear 2 3 He speaks Dutch well

Hij speelt heel goed gitaar click to hear 2 He plays the guitar very well

 subject   verb   definite object   complement
Hij schopt de bal hard click to hear He kicks the ball hard
Hij schopt de bal heel hard click to hear He kicks the ball very hard

exceptions
Honger maakt rauwe bonen zoet click to hear 2 3
Hunger makes raw beans [taste] sweet.
Two versions with a slight difference in meaning:
Hij berekende het verschil snel click to hear 2 He calculated the difference quickly
– a stand-alone remark indicating the subject is a clever or competent person
Hij berekende snel het verschil ... click to hear 2 He quickly calculated the difference ...
– implies 'he' is in a hurry and you expect another statement on why the rush or what 'he' did next. In the earlier examples above, only the similar 'Hij verfde het huis snel'  can be turned around like that and still be good Dutch.
Unrelated complementwise, just in case you were wondering:
Hij speelt op een dure gitaar click to hear 2 3 He plays an expensive guitar
