For the present tense of the first person singular, and for the
inverted question mode of the second person singular present tense,
the D of 'houd' is often not pronounced

'Houden van' is 'to like, to love' - but the Dutch rarely say things like "Ik hou van jou" 'I love you' to romantic partners or children. 'Houden van' is mostly used to communicate a like (or dislike) of specific food, music or activities
