'Houden van' - to Love, to Like

'Houden van' click to hear is 'to like, to love' - but the Dutch rarely say things like "Ik hou van jou" click to hear 'I love you' to romantic partners or children. 'Houden van'  is mostly used to communicate a like (or dislike) of specific food, music or activities

Keep in mind that placeholders 'It,' 'What' and 'That' are translated by 'er,' 'waar' and 'daar' when used with a preposition (like 'van') - more
